BIOMAE, a young, innovative company in the environmental metrology sector, awarded the GreenTech verte label in 2018, has surpassed the €1 million mark in revenue and posted a net profit (excluding research tax credits) of around 15%.BIOMAE, a spin-off of INRAE’s ecotoxicology laboratory, offers innovative bioassays to measure the quality of water and aquatic environments. “We are able to offer water stakeholders impact studies that measure the ecotoxic effects of micropollutants on living organisms,” Laurent Viviani, co-founder of BIOMAE. It should be noted that BIOMAE standardized a first bioassay with AFNOR in 2019 to broaden the use of this type of approach. All ecotoxicity bioassays will be standardized with AFNOR by the end of the year. BIOMAE works with the six French water agencies, metropolitan areas, ICPE (classified environmental protection facilities) manufacturers, and urban wastewater treatment plant managers.
