During a Facebook Live broadcast, the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Cedric O, presented the various measures aimed at startups and digital companies to address the COVID-19 crisis. Cédric O addressed a message to startups and companies on three points: the development of remote working, measures taken for businesses, and mobilization.
To date, everyone is impacted by this crisis. And, to prevent the spread of the virus, society, businesses, and you all need to put as many employees as possible to work remotely.
The government has announced extremely strong measures for businesses: systematic deferral of social security contributions and tax deadlines until March, deferral of contributions and relief on certain contributions, cash flow measures, recourse to partial unemployment, etc. The government will ensure it adapts to the situation and adapts the rules to businesses. For example, all startups that, due to lack of time, have not had the time to set up a works council will be able to benefit from short-time working, whereas normally, the works council’s opinion is required to qualify for short-time working.
Cedric ended his presentation with one final point: mobilization. He encouraged finding solutions to problems by implementing mutual aid, either at preferential rates or free of charge. He mentioned measures such as teleworking, teleconsultation, and connecting people who can look after your children.
