An international audience discovers HYDRAO shower heads
The Grenoble-based startup Smart & Blue has won the first GreenTech call for projects from the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition for its HYDRAO shower head, which allows us to save water and energy! Thanks to its multicolored LEDs, the shower head illuminates the water jet, giving it different shades of color to let us know how much water we’re using when showering: green for 10 liters, blue for 20, etc. This color scheme actually helps reduce water consumption. This shower system now only uses 9 liters of water per minute, compared to 12 previously. Smart & Blue indicates that the savings can be as high as €200 per year, and more than 25,000 liters of water for a four-person household. You can modulate the flow rate by adjusting the showerhead settings from your smartphone or tablet, thus controlling your consumption over time. The international distribution of the HYDRAO showerhead is off to a strong start. HYDRAO has just won a tender to equip 10,000 apartments from the Singapore Water Agency (PUB), including the collection of consumption data. The first deliveries are scheduled for February.
The results of behavioral research demonstrate the savings of the HYDRAO Facility
The results of research conducted by the University of Singapore (NUS) contributed to this new contract. As part of this study, HYDRAO facility solutions were installed in the showers of 400 students to encourage them to reduce their water consumption. Remote monitoring, carried out to understand behaviors and track progress, identified HYDRAO’s nudge effect: in the curves below, the “blue” control group never receives an incentive, while the other two receive an incentive only after two weeks. An average of 25% water savings is measured when the incentive is activated.
