Greentech Webinar on April 13, 2021: When Artificial Intelligence Supports the Ecological Transition

How can we understand AI? What are the government and the ministry doing regarding AI to support sustainable development? How is a company using AI to help stakeholders accelerate the ecological transition? This was the subject of the webinar held on April 13, 2021.

Arthur Filoche, a doctoral student at Sorbonne University – LIP6 and consultant to Ecolab, opened the discussion by presenting the essential concepts to define the subject and outline its limitations. The objective was to understand what we call AI and then to understand its origins. He presented the expectations and challenges related to this field, and concluded with an introduction to best practices for carrying out an AI project. Marc Leobet, Ecolab’s “AI & Ecological Transition” project director, presented the government’s action plan linking artificial intelligence and the ecological transition, as well as the program’s scope of action and stakeholders.

Within the Ministry of Ecological Transition, he presented the AI directory of startups and SMEs. To be listed in this directory, you must be a Greentech startup or SME working on artificial intelligence and contact the Greentech Innovation teams.

In the third part, Julien Camus and Claire Bonfils of Kayrros discussed the systemic impact of companies using artificial intelligence on the climate emergency. The aim was to provide a concrete case study highlighting the use of the tools developed by Kayrros. Through its processing of satellite data, Kayrros develops services and products that provide an in-depth view of climate risk to numerous private and public stakeholders.
