Launch of the “Food Behavior and Attitudes in France” survey: Find out how to access the results

For the first time, CRÉDOC, a French specialist in food behaviors and consumption, will draw on data from the myLabel consumer app to inform its next major study.

Every three years, for the past 30 years, the CAF study on Food Behaviors and Attitudes by CRÉDOC (Centre for Research on the Study and Observation of Living Conditions) has been the benchmark for understanding French consumption trends.

The upcoming “CAF 2021” edition addresses the questions posed by stakeholders in the food transition, particularly by measuring the consequences of the health crisis on the expectations of the French and its impact on their behavior. A unique tool for detecting food consumption trends, this barometer, conducted among a representative sample of 3,000 individuals, has existed since 1988 and covers all aspects of the food process (perceptions of “eating well” and concerns, food selection criteria in purchasing situations, food storage, preparation, and dietary patterns, etc.). The myLabel application measures changes in consumer values. The major innovation is that CRÉDOC has chosen to rely on real-time data from the startup myLabel to measure the daily changes in health, environmental, and social expectations (impact on the climate and biodiversity, pesticides, fair pay for farmers, animal welfare, gender equality, etc.).

A first for a consumer survey.

How have lockdowns and remote working influenced shopping locations? Culinary practices? What values guide food choices? In addition to the survey revealing changes over 30 years, the 2021 CAF study uses a CRÉDOC social listening tool to measure the impact of social media, and myLabel to track day-to-day changes in attitudes and behaviors. A customizable app for responsible consumption

Free and independent, the myLabel citizen app, a partner of CRÉDOC, is the only one able to evaluate the products we eat on all aspects of health, planet, and social issues, relying on trusted third parties from associations, institutions, and NGOs. The difference between myLabel and other apps more focused on nutrition or solely on carbon impact, for example, lies in the fact that it goes further in terms of customization, with 21 criteria that can be configured: Presence of pesticides Protection of biodiversity Presence of GMOs
