The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Energy, Climate and Risk Prevention launches the platform ecologie.data.gouv.fr

Launched on the occasion of the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités locales in the presence of Agnès PANNIER-RUNACHER, Minister for Ecological Transition, Energy, Climate and Risk Prevention, the platform ecologie.data.gouv.fr now allows for the registration of all environmental data, community by community, held by the State and its operators.

Providing centralized access to environmental data

Previously scattered across different catalogs, nearly 30,000 datasets covering various themes from reference organizations such as IGN, Météo France, Ademe, Cerema, OFB, BRGM as well as decentralized services of the State are gathered on this platform.

This centralization of data is the result of close collaboration with territorial data platforms and relies on a digital common developed jointly with the already heavily frequented national platform data.gouv.fr.

This work is part of the flagship actions of the ministerial roadmap for data, algorithms, and source codes of ecological transition and territories. It is the result of the Écosphères project led by the Ecolab of the General Commission for Sustainable Development (CGDD).

A new cataloging of data by use cases: territorial data bouquets

Ecologie.data.gouv.fr offers an innovative data cataloging feature by usage, called “data bouquets.” These bouquets facilitate the linkage of territorial data and specific needs of public policy. The goal is to make data usage more efficient based on local issues and to accelerate the search.

These data bouquets will highlight local initiatives by providing them with national visibility so that they can be replicated in other territories.

For example, in connection with the climate change adaptation policy of the Métropole de Lyon, a bouquet has been created around its “plantability map,” a resource that helps guide urban greening strategies. This initiative has inspired the Métropole de Bordeaux, which has set up a similar approach for its own needs.
