The Awarded Start-ups and SMEs Greentech Innovation
The Ecolab of CGDD is the innovation laboratory at the service of ecological transition. It is responsible for the policy of animation and support of the “greentech” ecosystem, through:
- the detection and promotion of innovations from start-ups and SMEs across the entire spectrum of ecological transition, based for example on the use of data (the “Greentech Innovation” team, associated labeling…);
- A value proposition for three years around public procurement issues, especially territorial, through various mechanisms. The leverage effect is significant for the internationalization of start-ups and SMEs, as the rules in this area are the same for the entire European internal market.
Thus, Ecolab received a European recognition in November 2023 for supporting public markets in France. The innovation laboratory won the “European Prize for Promoting Entrepreneurship” (EEPA) awarded by the European Commission, in the category “Supporting the Sustainable Transition“, which rewards annually the best policies and practices in the field of entrepreneurship and support for businesses in Europe.
The jury particularly appreciated the highly innovative nature and the potential for impact and scalability: (i) actions for referencing innovative and sustainable companies in France (Greentech Innovation distinction), (ii) awareness of public markets, (iii) the organization of events facilitating meetings between public actors and Greentech (Greentech Decision Makers Meetings), (iv) the establishment of a residency space for companies to stimulate local public innovation markets (Living-Lab Greentech already mentioned), (v) the management of the Call for Projects “Frugal AI Demonstrator in Territories for Ecological Transition” aimed at local authorities, project leaders…
The Greentech Innovation initiative supports innovative start-ups and SMEs that innovate in the service of ecological transition.
Since its launch in 2016, 290 greentech companies have been awarded and benefit from specific support, increased visibility, and events that facilitate meetings between start-ups, SMEs, and other sustainable development actors, creating intersections between needs and solutions.
